Chocolate Wedding Cake Questions & Answers
Do you do other wedding cake designs?
Yes, the gallery gives an indication of the work that Serendipity Cakes create. We offer a bespoke service which is tailored to your specific wedding cake requirements.
I like a wedding cake design on your website but would like a variation, is this possible?
We can base a cake design on any of our existing range and then alter to your own specific requirements.
Can I choose different flavours on each tier of my wedding cake?
Yes, we have a range of flavours to choose from and tiers can be mixed at no extra cost. If you click on any of the wedding cake images in the gallery, you will find a full list of flavours.
I want a chocolate wedding cake but would like a small fruit cake as a top tier, is this possible?
Yes, there is no problem with using a fruit cake as a top tier. Cake dowels are inserted into the cake to support the weight of each tier.
Can we come and discuss our wedding cake with you?

Clients are welcome to visit the wedding cake studio in Essex to discuss and design your wedding cake or celebration cake. You will also be able to sample some of the different flavoured cakes. This service is completely free and under no obligation. Alternatively, if it is not convenient to make an appointment, samples can be sent directly to you via the post.

How far in advance do I need to place an order?
Wedding cakes should usually be ordered 3 to 9 months in advance, particularly for summer weddings. However, this is only a guide and Serendipity Cakes are sometimes available to accommodate last minute orders.
Will my chocolate wedding cake melt?
Chocolate does not melt until it reaches a temperature of 37 degrees centigrade. When choosing a position to display your chocolate wedding cake at the venue, during the summer months, ensure it is not placed in direct sunlight. For marquee weddings on very hot days, delivery and set up takes place as near to the wedding breakfast as possible.
How do I care for my cake?
Your chocolate wedding cake should not be put in a fridge as condensation will occur and it will ruin. Your chocolate wedding cake should be stored in a cool, dry environment out of direct sun light.
How long will my wedding cake last after the wedding?
Your cake should be wrapped tightly in clingfilm and can be stored up to 4 months in a freezer.
How many tiers do I need?
If you click on any of the wedding cake images in the gallery, you will get an idea of costings and portion size requirements.
Can I collect my chocolate wedding cake directly from your studio?
Yes, some clients decide to collect their wedding cake directly from my studio the day before or the morning of the wedding. Serendipity Cakes are based in Essex, near the Hertfordshire / Essex border 8 miles off junction 8 on the M11.
Can you deliver my chocolate wedding cake to the venue?
Serendipity Cakes offer a delivery and set up service directly to your venue. This is charged at £0.65p per mile round trip.
